I will discuss numerical astrophysical cosmology, with an emphasis on the problem of galaxy formation. The creating of cosmological initial conditions and the methods for performing numerical structure formation simulations will be discussed together with the required methodology for simulating dark matter dynamics, star formation and BH physics on cosmological scales. I will finish with some recent results highlighting the potential of numerical galaxy formation studies.
