Dark Plasma and Dark Atoms
Atom-like structures in the dark matter sector are generally believed to be only possible if the dark sector is asymmetric, in analogy with baryon number in the visible sector. In this talk we discuss how, given the right particle content and couplings, it might be possible to generate dark atoms thermally, i.e. without an asymmetry. Besides being an interesting proof of concept, such models might be relevant to explain non-gravitational interactions of dark matter and can lead to new phenomena like dark plasma interactions.
