You are warmly invited to our next departmental colloquium. Our speaker on Friday is our own Minna Palmroth, who will give an inaugural lecture to her colleagues here at the department, titled “Space is the new black!”. Minna is both Professor of Computational Space Physics and Director of the new Finnish Centre of Excellence in Research of Sustainable Space, and in her talk she will discuss the the commercialisation of space, the growth of startups focussing on satellites and the implications these and other factors have for our use of space as a shared resource.
The talk will last 30 minutes, after which there will be a cocktail reception. Welcome!

PHYSICS DAYS 2018 – SEEING THE INVISIBLE

Physics Days 2018 – Fysiikan päivät 2018, the 52nd annual meeting of the Finnish Physical Society, will be held at LOGOMO in Turku, March 21-23, 2018. The event is jointly organized by the Finnish Physical Society and University of Turku.
Registration is open and it is done via Aboa Congress and Event Services. The early registration period is 15.11.2018 – 15.02.2018 and the late registration period is 16.02.2018 – 05.03.2018.

The US National Science Foundation (NSF) awards Graduate Research Fellow (GRF) grants to talented US researchers working on their doctoral thesis for research spells in Finland or other countries included in the Graduate Research Opportunities Worldwide (GROW) programme.
