DOCTORAL DEFENCE
Sami Raatikainen, FM will defend the doctoral dissertation entitled “Cosmic Inflation, Alternative Formulations of General Relativity, and Stochasticity” in the Faculty of Science, University of Helsinki, on 6 October 2022 at 13:15. The public examination will take place at the following address: Exactum, auditorio CK112, Pietari Kalmin katu 5.
Director of research, 1st class Jérôme Martin, Institut d’astrophysique de Paris, will serve as the opponent, and Kari Rummukainen as the custos.
The dissertation will be published in the series HIP-Internal Report Series.

Kumpula Physics Colloquium (HYBRID), Friday 07.10.2022
The next Kumpula Physics Colloquium will take place on Friday (07.10.2022) at 14:15 in Physicum E204. The colloquium will also be streamed online via Zoom.
Our speaker is Aleksi Vuorinen, who recently became a Full Professor in our department. The title of his talk is ”Neutron-star cores as a laboratory for particle physics”. Aleksi will present recent results on the physics taking place in the heart of neutron stars. The talk will last about 30 minutes, after which there will be a cocktail reception.
