“Fuel retention in fusion reactors – Effect of boron and trapped hydrogen”
Abstract: Fuel retention is a problem in the future fusion reactors due to the radioactive hydrogen isotope tritium. ITER, the next-step fusion device, updated its baseline in 2024, and now there are new scenarios that need to be taken into account when estimating the fuel retention. My post-doctoral project focuses on some atom-scale details of irradiation-induced defects and fuel retention in the plasma-facing material tungsten.
