The next Kumpula Physics Colloquium will take place on Friday (14.04.2023) at 14:15 in Chemicum A129.
Our speaker is Tuomas Lappi, who obtained his PhD from the University of Helsinki in 2005. After postdocs at Brookhaven National Laboratory and CEA/Saclay he moved to the University of Jyväskylä in 2009. He obtained an ERC Consolidator grant in 2015. Since 2022 he is the director of the Academy of Finland Centre of Excellence in Quark Matter.
The title of his talk is “The Electron-Ion Collider EIC – the most powerful microscope on Earth”. This talk will discuss the physics program of the Electron-Ion Collider EIC.

Purpose: initial funding for completing a doctoral research project in Finland, completion of a double degree or a study visit on exceptionally compelling reasons

The Finnish Cultural Foundation
In the October round of applications, it is possible to apply for a regular working and/or expenditure grant or a special purpose grant, such as Art for Everyone, Additional Million-euro Funding to Science, Science Education, DNA in Time and Space and Eminentia grants. Suomalainen Tiedeakatemia on perustanut uuden Väisälä-hankeapurahan. Apuraha on tarkoitettu Suomessa toimivalle tutkijauran vakinaistamispolun alkuvaiheen tutkijalle oman tutkimusryhmän perustamiseen ja ryhmän tutkimuskuluihin. Vakinaistamispolun alkuvaiheen tutkijalla tarkoitetaan niin sanotun tenure trackin ensimmäisen vaiheen tehtävissä olevaa tutkijaa (assistant professor -taso).
