Our speaker is Pauliina Ilmonen, who is a professor (tenured associate professor) in Statistics and Mathematical Data Science at Aalto University School of Science. She is also the vice head (in charge of teaching) of the Department of Mathematics and Systems Analysis. The title of her talk is “On extreme quantile regions”.

InstituteQ Workshop spring 2024
Our goal at InstituteQ is to raise the readiness of Finnish society for the disruptive potential and implications quantum technologies will have for society and the economy at large.
Time and venue: Thursday-Friday, March 14-15, 2024, Aalto University School of Business (Ekonominaukio 1), Otaniemi
The workshop will take place over two days with a focus on decoherence and dissipation in Josephson junctions and qubits.

Applicant: a Finnish university department
Who: a doctoral student or a young researcher from outside Finland
Purpose: initial funding for completing a doctoral research project in Finland, completion of a double degree or a study visit on exceptionally compelling reasons
Application deadline: rolling deadline. You should apply for the grant five months before the start of the fellowship.
Duration of fellowship: 3–12 months, visits 3–6 months

Stiftelsens ändamål är att genom stipendier, belöningar och understöd åt enskilda finska medborgare eller i Finland verksamma samfund, föreningar och institutioner befordra vetenskaplig forskning samt belöna medborgerlig, fosterländsk och/eller kulturell gärning och att understöda socialt eller vetenskapligt inriktad verksamhet.
