Title: Characterization of non-Markovianity in bosonic systems induced by random telegraph noise
Abstract: Random telegraph noise (RTN), as an important non-Gaussian noise, has been widely used to theoretically model the environmental effects on quantum systems in a large variety of fundamental physical systems. The origin of this noise is a bistable fluctuator which switches values between two values +/- c(t) with a switching rate \xi.
We model the environment as the RTN acting on a bosonic system with coupling strength \nu. The non-Markovian effects of this noise can be analysed by studying the evolution of the trace distance of two initial states as a function of the parameters \xi and \nu. We find that as a function of the ratio of \xi/\nu, we can switch from a non-Markovian to a Markovian regime. Thus, this is an interesting model to study the behaviour of non-Markovian effects in noise channels for bosonic systems. In the non-Markovian regime, we further find a lower bound on the degree of non-Markovianity. We also analyse the change in non-Markovian measure under the influence of multiple such bistable fluctuators. Further, we would like to study the performance of symmetric bosonic codes under RTN dephasing using a teleportation-based error correction circuit.
