APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN FOR THE 2018 CERN SCHOOL OF COMPUTING (CSC 2018)
——————————————————————————–
The 41st CERN School of Computing (CSC 2018), organized by CERN in collaboration with Tel Aviv University (TAU), will be held in Tel Aviv, Israel on October 1-14, 2018.

There are few places available. The school is for scientists and engineers in the fields of Computing and Physics. Their goal is to create the best conditions for learning, but also to facilitate cross-national and cross-institute networking.

The two-week academic programme consists of more than 50 hours of lectures and hands-on exercises, covering three main themes: base technologies, physics computing, and data technologies.

The School is limited to 60 students. The total fee is EUR 1500 per student (limited financial support may be available for justified cases). The deadline for applications is Sunday May 13.

For the second year the Institut Français in Helsinki, the Embassy of France in Finland and the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation have partnered with the Finnish Society for Sciences and Letters and the Finnish Academy for Science and Letters in Finland to open the call for proposals of the seed funding program to initiate and strengthen bilateral cooperation in science, innovation and higher education in fields of excellence.

For the second year the Institut Français in Helsinki, the Embassy of France in Finland and the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation have partnered with the Finnish Society for Sciences and Letters and the Finnish Academy for Science and Letters in Finland to open the call for proposals of the seed funding program to initiate and strengthen bilateral cooperation in science, innovation and higher education in fields of excellence.
There are three programs availailable:
1-French Renowned Scientist Conference Series (FRSCS)
2-Researchers Short Mobility program (RSM)
3- “Higher Education, Research and Innovation” Workshop (ERI-W)

Physics Days 2018 – Fysiikan päivät 2018, the 52nd annual meeting of the Finnish Physical Society, will be held at LOGOMO in Turku, March 21-23, 2018. The event is jointly organized by the Finnish Physical Society and University of Turku.
Registration is open and it is done via Aboa Congress and Event Services. (Follow this link.) The early registration period is 15.11.2018 – 15.02.2018 and the late registration period is 16.02.2018 – 05.03.2018.

Publication Forum (JUFO) is inviting members of the scientific community to participate in a re-evaluation of the publication channels, which will be carried out during this year. Publication Forum is a publication channel classification system implemented by the Finnish scientific community that supports the quality assessment of research output.
Suggestions made before the end of March 2018 will be included in the first stage of the re-evaluation.

CERN ACCELERATOR SCHOOL ON BEAM INSTRUMENTATION, TUUSULA JUNE 2018

The CERN accelerator school on beam instrumentation is held 2-15 June 2018
in hotel Gustavelund, Tuusula, Finland. The course is split into morning lectures and
“hands-on” courses. The focus is on typical instruments used in high and low energy
linear and circular particle accelerators. The course is open for registration on:

This School is focused on High Throughput Distributed Processing of Future HEP Data, and covers the following topics:
• Technologies and platforms
• Parallel and optimised scientific software development
• Effective I/O for scientific applications

GRANTS FOR THREE-YEAR RESEARCH PROJECTS FOR FUNDING PERIOD 2019–2021

The grants for three-year research projects are intended for promising researchers of the University of Helsinki. The funding is aimed to support future research leaders who are starting to conduct independent research and establishing a research group at the University of Helsinki.
