WP 5 Assembly
Description
The objective of this work package is to exchange knowledge and provide key information relating CLIC high precision assemblies between CLIC and Mectalent Oy. The information exchange will benefit both parties involved in the exchange by increasing the understanding of the requirements and of the possibilities of high accuracy assembly techniques.
A Researcher from Mectalent is integrated in CERN’s RF structure production team in charge of manufacturing the X-band RF structures for the CLIC study. The researcher will take part in the actual development and design work being done for the CLIC RF components and two-beam module. The work will consist of design work related to high accuracy component assembly and alignment in the CLIC module. The work also includes the detailed definition of all assembly processes from cleaning to high power tests, including assembly procedure of the different parts – industrialisation of the assembly process and corresponding mass production.
A Researcher, who takes part in secondment from CERN to
Mectalent, will work during his/her stay by exchanging
knowledge regarding CLIC requirements in
precision assembly
and components.
Realisation
Specialist from Mectalent Oy (FI) joined CLIC RF production team for 12 months in March, 2013. He is participating the assembly work of CLIC two-beam test module and RF structures.
CERN scientist is making his/her 2 months secondment to Mectalent in 2014.
